Ekaterina Chernyakova was born in St Petersburg, Russia, and received her training as a pianist, teacher and musicologist at the Rimsky-Korsakov St Petersburg State Conservatory and the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia.
In 2001 she won First Prize at the All-Russian Competition for the Best Performance of Contemporary Piano Music. Ekaterina was employed as a teacher of piano, solfeggio, music theory and harmony at the Mussorgsky College of Music in St Petersburg along with being involved in extensive concert work as the piano accompanist for the operatic soprano Elena Drobot.
In 2010 she won a Gates Scholarship to pursue a PhD course at the University of Cambridge, obtaining her doctorate in 2016. Ekaterina joined Musica Nova in 2015, where she has since been providing her services as a teacher of Piano and Theory.
