PRESS RELEASE

“Stars of the Albion” Festival-contest is the annual event which joins young extraordinary talented musicians and dancers. It forms a unique bridge connecting different cultures and in particular of Russia and Great Britain, creating an effective path to success and professional development of competitors. The project is supported by the Embassy of the Russian Federation to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Mission of Rossotrudnichestvo in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Russian Community Council in the UK.
This year's contest has attracted many applications and the level of participants this year is extremely high. Some of the participants have already won laureate titles at national and international competitions.
The participants have competed in two rounds. The first one is based on video recordings of two pieces sent by the participants to the organising committee. 26 participants were selected to perform in the second round. The second (final) round will be opened to the public and will be held on Friday 27th March 2015 at 6.30pm at the Mission of Rossotrudnichestvo in London.

The Awards Ceremony and Gala concert of winners and laureates of “Stars of the Albion” 2015 will be held on the 25 April 2015 at the Rudolf Steiner Theatre. Winners and laureates will receive diplomas, valuable prizes, invitation to take part in concert events throughout the year organised by “Stars of the Albion”.

This concert is the first of a series of events planned to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of WWII Victory.
The adjudicating panel is comprised of some famous and very well-established musicians, composers, producers and artists. To date we have received confirmation from:
 ·         Luba Balagova – an Award-winning Russian poet and author, Filmmaker and Film producer.  She has been very active in the creative and literary world for the past twenty years, in addition to lecturing on various social and cultural initiatives in Europe, Russia and the Middle East.
·         Evgenia Terentieva – pianist, singer, composer, winner of international competitions and prestigious awards. She adjudicates at several international competitions in Great Britain and Europe. In 2011 Evgenia was awarded European Franz Kafka Medal for her outstanding achievements and a “Queen’s Award” from the British Council. She is the founder and executive producer of the “Musica Nova” Russian-British Music Academy Musica Nova Russian-British Music Academy and the “Stars of the Albion” Festival-Contest.
·         Olga Balakleets – producer, concert pianist, CEO of the Ensemble Productions international concert agency.
·         Polina Shepherd – singer, pianist, composer, producer, founder of The Polina Shepherd Vocal Experience, choir leader of the award winning Russian choir of Brighton & Hove since 2007, The London Yiddish Choir and The London Russian Choir since 2013.
·         Alexa Pol – singer, choir conductor, songwriter, producer, laureate of international festivals-contests, has established herself as a solo artist in the UK and Israel, performing on prestigious concert stages, such as: O2 Academies in London and etc. In 2010 she became Best female act in Classical Rock Radio.
·         Grant Martirosyan – violinist, composer, chamber and orchestra musician. He has performed with such world famous conductors, as Genadiy Rozhdestvensky and Veronika Dudarova. He was a principal violinist in the following leading world established orchestras, the Symphony Radio and Broadcasting Orchestra of the USSR, Moscow Small Orchestra and Armenian State Philharmonic Orchestra. In the UK Grant has been performing with the London Symphony Orchestra.
·         Dmitry Devdariani – Theatre Director, tutor
·         Lenny Lawrence - composer, guitarist, producer. He is the author of numerous feature documentary soundtracks and of the Official Anthem of the Italian Paralympic Swimming Federation (FINP). As a performer, he appeared on prestigious international stages such as the Ronnie Scott's, the Bush Hall, the Nanning International Folk Song Arts Festival (China), the main stage in Trafalgar Square, Hippodrome in Leicester Square and etc.
·         Dr. Simone Spagnolo – composer, lecturer in Music Theatre of University of Cumbria. His music has been performed in prestigious venues and halls across the world and broadcast in UK, Italy, USA, China, Norway and Czech Republic.
·         Irina Mironova – choreographer, Founder and Director of the Kalinka Dance School in London.
·         Shalva Kavtaradze – choreographer, dancer with over 20 years dancing experience. For 8 years he was dancing in the Georgian State Dance group. He have performed in France, Switzerland, England, Italy, Germany, Poland. In August 2000 he has established children dance group “Pesveni” in London. The group performed in many charity events in London and we had our first public show in January 2015.
·         Rebeka Molly - Classical composer, established artist. Her works have been exhibited all over Europe and in the UK and her compositions for symphony orchestra have been performed in Europe and Turkey. Recently Molly was commissioned to compose two ballets. One of the ballet’s is based on the British heroin, Queen Boudicca.
